There has been a little controversy over the packaging of these coins as they are presented in the same packaging as the standard diamond finish cupro-nickel Platinum Jubilee coins. The mint have tried to clarify the situation with the following comment. Each Platinum Jubilee coin had an issue limit of 2,700 which is the issue limit shown on the individual packaging. We have then taken 1,000 of each of the 3 coins (ie, 1,000 x Falkland Islands, 1,000 x British Antarctic Territory, 1,000 x South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands) and finished them with the pearl black finish and taken one of each of these to create the special set. The special three coin tribute set to Her Late Majesty then contains one coin in pack from each country with a special’tribute’ certificate confirming that there are only 1,000 sets with the pearl black finish being produced.
